OUR STORY

We are a small, spirited charity working to bring the Result - the last Carrick-built ship - home as a heritage attraction and community events hub.

The Carrickfergus Tall Ship Project

The project aims to preserve and bring back home the historic sailing ship Result. It is being undertaken by Result Carrickfergus Ltd a registered charity and non-profit company (Charity no. 110322, Company no. NI718531). We are in discussions with the vessel’s current owners, National Museums NI, about our intentions.

Our vision is to deliver a world class heritage experience and community hub which will enrich the lives of people in Carrickfergus and safeguard the future of the historic ship Result.

Our Aims are:

  1. To conserve and bring home the historic Carrickfergus-built ship Result.

  2. To establish a flexible and imaginative heritage experience, events space and community hub on-board.

  3. To inspire both those who visit and work on-board and offer learning, engagement and volunteering opportunities for our local community.

  4. To be a welcoming hub for the whole community and visitors to our town and more than just a ‘static museum ship’.

  5. To ensure the ship is operated on a secure and sustainable basis safeguarding the long term future of the Result.

The Ship

Launched in 1893, the Result is the last Carrickfergus built ship left. Her many adventures over a long career at sea included carrying a wide variety of cargo around the coasts of Britain and Ireland, service in the First World War as a Q-Ship and a starring role in a 1951 film.
